Spring may still be a few weeks away, but there’s no shortage of things to see, do, and celebrate across Nova Scotia this week. From arts and culture to outdoor activities and community fundraisers, here’s your guide to the week ahead — plus a look at ongoing events happening all month long.

Monday, February 23

Soups and Sides – Wolfville Farmers Market, 5pm to 6:30pm

Celebrate African Heritage Month while enjoying a tasty meal. The Town of Wolfville is showcasing a poster series created by Acadia students highlighting the lives and legacy of Nova Scotians who made a significant impact on the province. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

Tuesday, February 24

Little Explorers – Museum of Natural History, Halifax, 10am to 11am

A hands-on program for children under five and their caregivers. Explore nature through stories, puppets, and play while learning about the world around us. Adults must stay with the children, and no registration is required.

The Novel Bunch Reading Group – Westport Library, 10:15am to 12:15pm

In recognition of Freedom to Read Week, bring a challenged or banned book to read and discuss with fellow book lovers.

Cozy Letter-Writing Evenings – Rosefinch Mercantile & Tea Room, 6pm to 8pm

Enjoy tea, sweets, and a quiet space to write letters, postcards, or doodle. Bring your own stationery or use what’s available at the Tea Room.

Indoor Walking – Digby Regional High and Saint Mary’s Bay Academy, 6pm to 7pm

Keep moving safely through the winter months. Clean indoor shoes required. Wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers are welcome. Program canceled if school is closed due to weather.

Wednesday, February 25

Nova Scotia EXT Summit – Casey Concrete, Dartmouth, 8am to 4pm

A full-day learning and networking event for landscape industry professionals, covering operations, leadership, sales, and industry trends.

Veterans and First Responders Coffee Social – Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville, 9:30am

Open to all CAF veterans, RCMP, and first responders, active or retired. Share stories, socialize, and brainstorm future activities. No charge.

Midday Artist Talk – Tides Art Gallery, Kentville, 12pm

Liz Bateman presents her collection Undercurrent, followed by a Q&A session. Bring your lunch or coffee and join the discussion.

Sensory Turf Time – West Hants Parks and Recreation

An all-ages, no-registration drop-in program designed for accessibility and fun.

Thursday, February 26

Art Hive Open Studio – St. Francis Church Hall, Wolfville, 2pm to 5pm

A creative space for people of all ages and abilities. Facilitators available for guidance, or participants can work independently. Supplies provided.

Indoor Walking – Digby Regional High and Saint Mary’s Bay Academy, 6pm to 7pm

Barrington Paint Night with Anne – Barrington Lions Hall, 6:30pm

No experience required. Relax, socialize, and create your own artwork for 35 dollars per session.

Friday, February 27

Girls Nite Out – King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal

Five of Canada’s funniest female comedians take the stage for a night of standup and improv. Enter for a chance to win free tickets.

Winter Warmers One Act Play Festival – Various Locations

Enjoy a curated selection of short plays and monologues blending comedy and heartfelt storytelling. Runs Friday and Saturday.

Saturday, February 28

African Heritage Month Gala – Greenville Community Centre

Celebrate with live performances, dinner, and community connection. Tickets are 35 dollars per person, tables of eight available.

Tail End Party – Shipwright Brewing Company, Lunenburg, 1:30pm to 3:30pm

A festive reception with food, drinks, and surprise guests, wrapping up the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl experience.

Nova Scotia Art and Craft Show – Artist Application Deadline

Apply online to showcase your handcrafted work at the November show in Halifax.

First Aid and CPR Training – Bridgetown Motor Inn

One-day and two-day courses available for practical, real-life skills.

Wildflower Acrylic Craft Sampler – 7Arts

For ages 14 and up. Explore your creativity with all supplies provided. Cost is 25 dollars per person.

Sunday, March 1

Rappie Pie, Chili, and Bake Sale – Fundraiser

Support local athletes raising funds to compete at Nationals in Calgary. Enjoy delicious food while helping a good cause.

Events Running All Month

I Spy Something Red – Miller Point Peace Park, Lunenburg

Part of the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl. Find lobsters with letters attached, unscramble the secret four word message, and email your entry to win prizes. Fun for all ages.

Seas the Day – Lobster Creation Contest

Create a lobster using any medium, take a photo, and email your entry. Multiple entries allowed and winners chosen by random draw.
