This Week at Briden Farm 27 July - August 2, 2026

From a major sheep move to fresh pasture, quieter moments of reflection, and a renewed determination to fight for Briden Farm—this week reminded us that faith, stewardship, and one step at a time can

This week at Briden Farm was one we’ll remember for a long time.

Our flock of six ewes and their nine lambs made the journey to the Bell Road Pasture. While Barbara, Cloud, and Dolly confidently led the way, the younger ewes and lambs experienced the move for the very first time. Watching them settle into fresh pasture was a rewarding reminder that years of patient handling have created animals that know their jobs and trust their Shepherd.

We also look back at how this pasture began. Less than two years ago it was brush and undergrowth. The first to begin reclaiming it were our goats—Lucy, Snowball, and a young Patsy. Today, the sheep are grazing the same land, a living example of how thoughtful stewardship can restore both pasture and purpose.

Elsewhere around the farm, fences were prepared for the next rotation, water systems checked, rabbits, quail, and goats cared for, and Patsy continued providing milk while raising little Rose. The recent rain also improved our electric fence grounding, bringing both the sheep and pig fences back up to a healthy 2.5–3 kilovolts.

Away from the chores, this week also marked a personal milestone: 32 years of sobriety. It became a time of reflection, gratitude, and renewed determination. Rather than wondering whether Briden Farm can survive, the focus has shifted toward finding the path that will allow it to thrive—one pasture, one project, and one day at a time.

If you’ve ever wondered what life on a small, naturally managed homestead is really like—the victories, the challenges, the faith, and the everyday work—we’re glad you’ve joined us.

Thank you for listening, and thank you for being part of the journey.
