The Good Shepherd
All We Like Sheep Have Gone Astray
The good shepherd watches over his flock. Even when things get wooly!
He leads them to lay down in green pastures and finds them good water to drink.
When they hear him coming they know his voice and come unto Him.
He makes sure their fences and protects them from their enemies.
The preceding was a paraphrase of the Psalm 23
Jesus is the Good Shepherd and we as sheep have all gone astray.
We are often stubborn and obstinate and sometimes we go our own way.
Sadly, while it may be fun for awhile, it often leads us to get into trouble.
Thankfully, God is a forgiving God, and He is watching and waiting for our return.
See Isaiah 53:6
When a sheep goes astray and gets into trouble it often pays with its life!
Behold the Wolf stands at the door, seeking whom it can devour! (See 1 Peter 5:8)
In the teeth of the Wolf, or Lion, or other enemy the Sheep has no chance of escape.
Like the Sheep, without Jesus as our Good Shepherd we are doomed to die!
Doomed to die an eternal Spiritual death! Condemned by Sin!
The Bible teaches, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
If we as Shepherds would find a way to save our Sheep!
Wouldn’t God also find a way to save Us?
Of Course! Then He made it available to all who ask and believe!
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
