Prepare for The Worst!
Hope for the best.
Well it had finally happened!
Not that I had looked forward to it, nor enjoyed being here, but it had finally happened. Somehow, flying through my head, all these years, was the thought f what I’d say if the plane I was on started to crash!
I’m funny that way! I’ve stood naked beside a bathtub and balanced on just one foot! I’ve closed my eyes, during the day, for a little longer than was comfortable! I’ve always had a way of preparing for the u expected.
The old saying is, “Prepare for the Worst, Hope for the Best”.
Well it had finally happened! The Worst
Our plane, the plane I was travelling on, crashed!
Literally fell out of the Sky!
I remember every moment.
There weren’t many moments!
I always figured it would take some time. That’d be a period of time when there was wailing and gnashing of teeth, as we each faced our own personal hell, before facing the real Heaven, or Hell!
I’m a believer, thankfully, and I believe the Bible teaches us if we believe Jesus Christ died for our sins, and rose again conquering over death, and when asked will give us eternal life with Him. Not of works, but by Gods Grace! I believe, that’s how we’re Saved. That only when we accept God’s plan, and Christ’s sacrifice and paying the penalty of our sin! Then when we believe with our hearts, and confess with our mouths, the. We are saved and will go to Heaven! Thus, I have never had a real profound fear of death! Knowing I’m never going to die!
Oh! I’ll shed my body, but my spirit will live on, in the Real Heaven!
Sorry, don’t mean to offend anyone! Just think it’s important to set the stage! So as to better describe what I’m about to tell You. Of course, I’ve never really understood why, non believers get offended by something they say they don’t believe? Anyway…
It was rather surreal, being in a plane, knowing that in all likelihood we’d all be dead before we hit the ground! See, while I have little, or no, fear of dying, I do fear pain and suffering! So, I think perhaps that’s why I’ve always practiced what it’d be like!
How would I react if I faced loosing a limb? Or going blind? Or facing death in a Plane Crash? Or worse yet, suffering the fear, screams, and torture of knowing it was happening! What would that be like? Those few moments! How would I react if?
So, I always figured it would be over quickly! Maybe very quickly!
When You love Your life that way… by living my live that way …
It meant every moment, of every day, was … um, is …. Precious! My Precious!
So, when the plane shook, and the Captain announced the engine had failed, and we were going down! I was prepared! Sort of!
I had rehearsed my lines, many times!
Lord, Jesus! Into Thy Hands, I commit my Spirit!
In regular speech, it’d only take about 2 Seconds!
Stated very slowly, prayerfully, and deliberately…
I thought I could make it last 7 Seconds, and somewhere, some time, I thought I’d heard that was about how long it’d take fora plane to hit the ground and all as we knew it here to be gone! As we were swept away from our bodies to Heaven!
As I say, I’d rehearsed it many times, on many flights!
Not that I was afraid to fly, I loved it!
I was just prepared for the worst, and hoped (actually prayed) for the best!
Now it had finally happened!
I remember whispering those words, and then louder, and louder!
Drumming out the sounds of the other Passengers! So I’d not have to suffer their fear!
I can’t say I was without fear! I’d never faced anything like that before!
It wasn’t a fear of dying! I knew where I was going! No! It wasn’t a fear of having to suffer from my own wounds, or, more likely, the fear and wailing and gnashing of teeth as each one faced their own personal Hell! Perhaps fearful of the Real Hell!
My mantra, my chant, my cheer, my prayer, had drown out most of that! Thankfully!
Now, though! We were sitting on the ground!
What next?
