Feeding too many potatoes to Goats
Feeding too many potatoes—especially frozen ones—to goats can cause bloat and digestive issues. Their rumens aren’t built to handle a lot of starch, and frozen potatoes can be tough to digest, increasing the risk of gas buildup. Plus, if the potatoes are green or sprouted, they contain solanine, which can be toxic.
To keep your goats happy and healthy, only offer potatoes as an occasional treat, no more than one small potato a day, and definitely not a main food source. Always balance their diet with plenty of hay.
If you notice signs of bloat, like a swollen belly or discomfort.
Act quickly and call a vet if needed.
