Blisterin Hot! That’s how I’d describe today!
Thankful my LivGood Order come in a couple days ago, and at least I’m not as affected by this Heat Wave and Heat Warning we’re under as I’d normally be. I think I’ve had an electrolyte imbalance for quite a number of years. In fact, I think possibly since childhood! If you’d like to learn more about that read the post I did a couple days ago about Recognizing and Recovering From My Electrolyte Imbalance!
Thankfully, the E3 Drink from LivGood is once again doing its incredible job of restoring my Electrolytes and keeping me hydrated. Even in these extreme temperatures and even when I’m out climbing hillsides, and lugging feed and water buckets while doing chores here at Briden Farm.
Today, I remembered to get some photos of our animals here at home. Things like our Boar Pigs …
It’s a little difficult to get a good picture of them, here in the shade, but You can see they’re getting to be a good size. With their backs at about 30” which is the height of those old mink cages when laid on their side. Notice how the red ones back is just about the same height. These boys are about a year old, and a mix of Berkshire and Tamworth (I think). I was told Berk and Mangalitsa, but they’re not Mangas. They are big, and getting bigger, but they are also pretty gentle, easy going creatures!
Our plan is to breed them to our Sow, Lara, and her Gilt daughters, this Fall. A Gilt is a female pigs that has not been bred yet. A sow is one that has had at least one litter of piglets. We haven’t bred in a couple of years, but this Fall we hope to and then have piglets available come next spring. Call to get on the waiting list. 902-907-0770
From the Boars I move on along the trail at Briden Farm to our Rooster Tractor!
Well, not exactly like that!
More like this …
A chicken, or in this case, Rooster Tractor is a Mobile Coop. I move this along each day. Just moving it enough so that it covers the next piece of ground immediately adjacent to the day before. It means the chickens, or here… Roosters get to have a new salad bar everyday! The boys here are Easter Egger Roosters.
So really this is an Easter Egger Rooster Tractor …
Well, not quite! Although, Easter Egger Hens do lay Blue, Green, or Pink Eggs! Not the Roosters! The Hens! Although if you have an Easter Egger Rooster and it mates with You Hen their offspring have a 50% Chance of producing coloured eggs!
We currently have a few of these Easter Egger Roosters available if You’d like one call Brian at Briden Farm 902-907-0770
A little further Along the Trail at Briden Farm we have another Mobile Unit, like the one the Roosters are in, but in it we have …
Prehistoric Birds! Well, they certainly look like it, and they sound like it too…
I’m kind of thinking about selling them, simply because I need their Tractor for some Barred Rock Chickens were Raising. Still debating on what I want to do! I’ve got them almost as far back, to the furthest corner, of our property as possible. I may make another shelter for them, and leave them free to range from there. They are great at getting rid of Ticks! However, they can range up to a half mile! Hmmm…
Interested? Might not hurt to make me an offer! 902-907-0770
After looking after the Roosters and the Guineas, I make my way part way back the trail. There I head up the Hillside with a 20 Litre (44 lb) water Jug and a 15 lb Paul of Feed for Lara and her daughters. That’s over 1500 lbs of combined weight right there!
Although they’re as gentle as kittens! Although I kind of have to watch my step, and my feet, when Lara wants to dance! She loves to! I’ll try to get a video of that later!
Other than that, on the way back towards the house, we have some Free Range, Pastured, Hens that the Racoons have started to target! We had them for $15 each, but right now we’d let them go for $10 each, when you take at least 6. Although that’s just for our readers on here! So be sure to mention this when you call 902-907-0770
That is only part of our Chores here at home, and at this point we have critters on there different properties! So, needless to say, it’s a little hot when the thermometer reads …
So, now, I’m escaping the heat, sitting in my lazyboy with my feet up, and I think I’m going to take a que from these two …
Yup! Time for a Nap! Have a great day! Call to Book Your Farm Tour …
